Coming in for a surgery consult can be intimidating! But we’re here to make you feel as comfortable as possible — here’s exactly what happens at a consult, where I operate, and what I’ll ask you for.
This is my office!
When you arrive at the office, you’ll check in with our warm and friendly front desk team, who will ask you to fill out a little paperwork. We have complimentary drinks including sparkling water and coffee while you wait (briefly!) for your appointment.
Next, one of our medical assistants will show you back to my office, where you’ll meet me and we’ll talk about your goals and options. My consult visits are typically 45 minutes to an hour long, so we have plenty of time to get to know each other, make a plan, and for you to ask all of your questions!
Next, we’ll show you into an exam room, where you’ll change into a comfy bathrobe. Yes — for breast and body surgery you will need to get more or less completely naked for your exam! We’ll be very specific with you, but typically this means both clothes and underwear off. We provide disposable underwear that you can put on if that’s more comfortable for you. Once you’re ready, we’ll look in the mirror together to talk about your anatomy and your appearance, and what you can expect from surgery. I will also take photos of you (these are “before” photos, and they also help me when I’m planning for your surgery — all photos are stored on a secured, HIPAA-compliant drive) and may take some measurements as well.
Once we’ve made a plan together for surgery, you’ll meet with our surgical coordinator, who will review your quote with you and provide instructions for how to follow up when and if you’re ready to book. There is no pressure to book on the spot! Deciding to have surgery is a big decision, and we want to be sure you’re ready and excited to move forward before you commit.
Surgery takes place at The Surgical Arts Center, right next door to the office in Bryn Mawr, PA — so it’s a familiar, easy trip on the day of.
I also perform minor procedures including some scar revisions and labiaplasties in our clinic procedure room.
There’s plenty of parking right on site, and we’re just 3 blocks from the Bryn Mawr train station if you’d rather come by train.
Yes — there’s ample, free parking at our clinic.
Yes! However, an in-person physical exam is required before proceeding with any surgery. For out-of-town patients, we can typically plan for an in-person exam, measurement, photo, and sizing visit the day before your scheduled surgery.
